  • Mental Health Wellness
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Relationship, Spiritual and Holistic Counseling
  • Christian Counseling
  • Meditation and Relaxation Counseling
  • Substance Use Disorder
  • Tapping/Emotional Freedom Techniques to deal with unhealthy habits and issues surrounding food, trauma, inner child issues and/or mental health.
I believe in self-efficacy and in trying different therapy approaches that fits the client’s unique needs. I am a trained, holistic chakra healer, and I incorporate a lot of spirituality and Shambhala Buddhist meditation techniques in my methods. I also use the Bible and its’ teachings for Christian counseling. I believe everybody is unique in his or her own way, and that, it is wrong to judge people. We all have something to give despite our past. We let go of our past issues and find closure, so that they do not dictate our present and future. We find a way to live again with ourselves and our loved ones. I am cash based for now, I offer a sliding fee scale and payment plans.
We also have a foundation  that supports our charitable services: Be The Exception Counseling Foundation is an NGO with pending 501©3 status in the United States of America and registered in Cameroon, West Africa. We rely on your kind donations to provide free, qualitative treatment to the underprivileged and low-income families in Cameroon, West Africa.

Who Am I?

My name is Therese Fuh. I am a Therapist/ Counselor living in Austin, TX. Originally, I am from Cameroon, a country found in West Central Africa. I attained a BSc. in Sociology and Anthropology in 2005 from the University of Buea, Cameroon, while completing my internship at the General Hospital in Douala, Cameroon, volunteering in the Department for People Suffering With HIV/AIDS. In 2007, I relocated to the United States to pursue a Masters Program in Health Services Management at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York which resulted in me staying in the U.S.A. I attained a MS In Heath Services Management, in 2009. Currently, I have a Ph.D. pending in Counseling and Psychology Studies with a Specialty in Addictions Counseling at Regent University. I also counsel clients on life skills, cognitive restructuring, and career coaching.

Why Do I Do This? Why is this not just a career for me?

1) It is the fact that I receive a client broken and shattered with no hope nor love for himself or herself and have difficulties in forgiving their transgressions. Then as the sessions progress, to see this person blossom like a lovely flower and letting go of resentment, illicit drugs or alcohol and pain is a true blessing and humble reminder.

2) To see a client, go through one job to the next, not being able to connect and all of a sudden that career change or professionally written resume and job interview role plays puts you through the door.

 3)  To a view a client with no basic life skills or forgotten life skills, re-integrate into society, family with confidence, increased self-esteem, and organizational motivation. A sense of self and purpose re-born.

4) To see a client with a scattered mind, lacking mindfulness, as stiff as a rock. Then slowly starts to open like a flower, gathering the mind and being self-aware to the extent that a stillness of mind, concentration and serenity becomes a new lifestyle.
